Catacomb
A Christian subterranean cemetery built both as a response to overcrowding and shortage of land, and as a need for persecuted Christians to bury their dead secretly. Famous examples include:
- Catacombs of Rome, Italy
- Catacombs of Paris, France
- Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, in Alexandria, Egypt
- Catacombs of Sacromonte in Granada, Spain.
- Catacombs of the Convento de San Francisco in Lima, Peru
