2. A particular body of faithful people, and the whole body of the faithful, taken from the Greek word ecclesia (assembly, congregation or, council). In this sense, the word may refer to;
- All people, living or dead, who are Christians.
- A specific wing of Christianity, as in the Roman Catholic Church
- A specific Christian denomination, such as the Methodists
- A non-Christian religion, such the Wiccan Church of Canada
