2. A particular body of faithful people, and the whole body of the faithful, taken from the Greek word ecclesia (assembly, congregation or, council). In this sense, the word may refer to;

  • All people, living or dead, who are Christians.
  • A specific wing of Christianity, as in the Roman Catholic Church
  • A specific Christian denomination, such as the Methodists
  • A non-Christian religion, such the Wiccan Church of Canada
