Circumcision

From the Latin (circum + caedere), to 'cut around'.

The removal of the skin that covers the tip of a penis. In Judaism, it is performed during the brit milah ceremony at the age of 8 days. In Islam it is conducted at various times between birth and puberty, depending on local culture.
