Laws that have been given by God.

In the Jewish tradition, there are 613 commandments in the Torah: 248 positive and 365 negative. Of these, about two dozen are described in Exodus 20:2-17, which are grouped together to give the ten commandments. These are held in high regard by both Jews and Christians.
