Disciple

A person who follows a religious leader, used in religions such as Christianity and Buddhism.

In Christian usage, it is used to refer to the followers of Jesus. At one time, Jesus had 12 disciples; at another time, 70 are mentioned. Although those followers who were mentioned by name often in the gospels were evenly split between women and men, only conflicting lists of male disciples survive.
