Eternal Subordination of the Son

An early Christian heresy in which Jesus was believed to be forever in a subordinate role to God the Father.

This hierarchical concept of the Trinity has been promoted in recent decades by some Fundamentalist Christians. It is often used to teach that women should be restricted to inferior roles in the Church, home, and the rest of society.
