Eucharist

Literally,'rejoicing'.

A Christian sacrament by which those who celebrate it commemorate the Last Supper by re-enacting Jesus' last meal with his disciples, by consecrating bread and wine.

The Eucharist may refer not only to the rite but also to the bread and wine used in the rite, so communicants may speak of "receiving the Eucharist", rather than "celebrating the Eucharist".
