Guru

Literally 'one who dispels darkness' or one who is 'heavy' with the weight of vast knowledge.

A revered spiritual teacher who guides students towards enlightenment. It is a term commonly used in Eastern religions.

In Hinduism, a guru is a religious preceptor who communicates knowledge and techniques enabling his chosen students to achieve spiritual liberation. In Sikhism, the term is used to refer to one of the ten historical leaders of the community, the Guru Granth Sahib or God himself.
