Judaism
A world religion whose name comes from the patriarch Judah.
This is often regarded as the earliest monotheistic religion. The Hebrews are descendants of the twelve sons of Jacob (Israel), the son of Abraham. The name of the people are the Israelites who were the people chosen by God to teach His covenant to the world. Around 722 BC, ten tribes were captured and taken to Assyria and were lost to history. Only the tribes of Judah and Benjamin and some priests remained.
The Christian religion was founded by Jews; mainly by Yeshua of Nazareth (aka Jesus Christ) and Paul of Tarsus. It currently has 20 million followers, and is the original Abrahamic religions. The Roman army drove Jews out of Palestine and scattered them throughout the known world. Only in 1948 was a Jewish state recreated in Israel.
