Pietism

A religious reawakening in the Lutheran and Reformed churches in Germany and the Anglican church in England during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Pietism stressed conversion and a personal experience of salvation, Bible study, devotional life, evangelical witness and a continuous openness to new light. There was also an emphasis on Christian social responsibility.
