Rosary

Beads used by Roman Catholics in their private devotions. A series of ten beads is called a decade. The beads are also used to remember the fifteen mysteries.

The rosary has 166 beads, representing 166 prayers as follows:

• 1 creed (Apostle's Creed).
• 15 Pater nosters ('our Father').
• 150 'Hail Marys'.

In addition, other prayers are said while the rosary is being recited and the worshipper meditates on the mysteries.
