Sabbath Day's Journey

The furthest distance one could walk on a Sabbath day. It was about 1000-1200 yards (914-1100 metres); approximately the distance between Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives.

The distance is also thought to represent the distance between the portable temple and the outer edges of the camp during the exodus. This allowed everyone to go to the temple on Sabbath.
