Shakti

Also known as Chiti, Chit Shakti or Kundalini.

1. A term used in Hinduism to describe the feminine side of God or the divine mother, power. She is viewed as a female Goddess because she gives birth to all things. Sometimes viewed as Devi in her benevolent aspect.

2. A spiritual or evolutionary energy, coiled at the base of the spine and, according to yogi texts, to be brought out by meditation and yoga so that it can rise up and activate higher centres of consciousness.
