Shema

A term used in Judaism to describe a central prayer and affirmation of belief declaring the unity of God, which focuses on the love of God and earthly dependence on divine providence. It is customarily repeated morning, evening and just before going to sleep.

It begins:

"Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One".
