Shinto

The indigenous religion of Japan. Starting about 500 BC (or earlier) it was originally an amorphous mix of nature worship, fertility cults, divination techniques, hero worship, and shamanism.

Shinto later became the state religion of the country. The Church and state were separated just after World War II.
